Nazarene Compassionate Ministries exists to incarnate the
holistic ministry of Christ's compassion to the world, meeting physical,
emotional, relational, intellectual, and spiritual needs of people by
resourcing, empowering, and enabling a network of individuals to touch their
world in Jesus' name.
NCM has a four-fold approach to ministering to those in need:
Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene serves as a major collection and distribution point for Nazarene Compassionate Ministries. Our warehouse is the first of several to be spaced across the United States. We serve as a "pilot" program for the denomination. Rev. John Borgal is the Gifts In Kind Manager for NCMI and Eastern Warehouse Manager. He also serves as NCM Coordinator for the Washington, DC District and is on the District NMI Council. Rev. Borgal encourages churches to pack clothing and seek out computers and medical supplies. He also helps volunteer teams to sort and pack clothing every Monday and Wednesday. Other days are spent on weighing, taping and labeling boxes and office work. Every year thousands of boxes of commodities are shipped to needy people both in the U.S. and worldwide. We also receive thousands of boxes of Crisis Care Kits from all fifty states. They arrive by UPS and USPS, freight and some boxes are personally delivered.
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is dedicated to living out the truth of the Word and to encourage Christians to incarnate the Word through a lifestyle of compassion.
Incarnation happens as we:
NCM exists to address these needs.
How can I make a difference?
Together our Fawn Grove church family is making an impact on "our" world and for Jesus. We CAN make a difference. Join us in giving hope to the suffering of the world.
Every church is challenged to donate Crisis Care Kits (CCKs) enough kits to fill
one or more banana boxes (approximately six (6) CCKs fill one banana box).
CCKs may be received year-round and people are encouraged continually to provide
kits so as disasters occur around the world quantities will be
sufficient.
Crisis
Care Kit Preparation
(Please Adhere to these Instructions as Closely as
Possible)
1. Gather items in quantities listed below. Assemble CCKs and
seal the zip-lock bags. Include only those items listed on the
inventory. Set the CCKs in groups of six (6) to determine
the number of banana boxes needed.
INSTRUCTIONS: Into one 2-GALLON ZIPLOC BAG put the following items:
1.
One (1) medium size bottle of shampoo
2.
Two (2) bars of soap
3.
One (1) medium toothpaste
4.
Three (3) toothbrushes
5.
One (1) box of Band-Aids
6.
One (1) fingernail clipper
7.
One (1) small package of emery boards
8.
One (1) sturdy hair comb
9.
Two (2) hand towels
10.
Four (4) travel size packages of facial tissue
11.
One (1) beanie baby size stuffed toy
2.
Do not insert literature (including anything with the church's name on
it, notes, letters, etc.) in the CCKs or banana boxes.
3. Obtain banana boxes from the grocery store. Use only banana boxes for uniformity, eliminating wasted space in shipping.
4. Cut the heavy brown paper, usually found in the banana box, in half and tape half on the bottom of the box and the other half inside the lid. (Cardboard could be used the same way.)
5. Fill each box with six (6) CCKs—no more, no less. Write the quantity of banana boxes in the space provided on the CCK Inventory Report. Inventory must match what is in the box. To obtain a copy of the Inventory report form in printable form, click (HERE).
6.
After packing the banana box, place the Crisis Care Kit Box Inventory
inside the box and seal—using strong packing tape—according to the diagram.
To get a copy of the Inventory sheet in printable form, click - (HERE).
7. Please put both “To” and “From” addresses on the box.
8.
Do not wrap banana boxes in brown paper or contact paper. The wrapping tears or
hangs on the rollers of conveyors. If taped as shown, box handles are open
and easier to load and unload.
9.
Do not put filled banana boxes inside another box.
10. Send the boxes to the following (depending on method of shipping):
